Blood Orange and Basil Aperol Spritz

Blood Orange and Basil Aperol Spritz

This version of the Aperol Spritz adds seasonal depth with blood orange juice and a herbal hit of fresh basil. It's slightly more tart, incredibly fragrant, and dangerously sippable. Think: Italian vacation with a garden party vibe.

Flavor Profile:

-Bright, citrusy, & lightly bitter

-Juicy sweetness from fresh blood orange

-Effervescent & refreshing from Prosecco & soda

-Herbaceous lift from muddled basil

-Crisp, clean finish with a subtle orange peel bitterness

Ingredients:

-2 oz Aperol

-1 oz fresh blood orange juice

-3 oz Prosecco

-1 oz club soda or sparkling water

-2-3 fresh basil leaves

-Ice

-Blood orange slices & basil sprig, for garnish

Instructions:

1. Muddle Gently:

In a glass, lightly muddle the basil leaves with the blood orange juice to release the aroma, (don't overdo it - basil gets bitter when bruised).

2. Add Aperol & Ice:

Fill the glass with ice, then pour in the Aperol.

3. Top it Off:

Add the Prosecco, then a splash of club soda. Stir gently to combine.

4. Garnish & Serve:

Garnish with a blood orange slice & a fresh basil sprig. Sip immediately.

This Blood Orange & Basil Aperol Spritz is fresh, playful, & just different enough to keep your guests asking what's in it. It's the kind of cocktail that feels familiar but totally new - like summer in a glass with a twist.
